  1. All are appealing in their own way. As I get older and my balance lets me know that every now and then, safe walkability becomes more and more important. I am in awe of the robustness of the hostas along the concrete aggregate walk..that’s your payoff for those cold winters.

  2. What kind of gravel is used on the walkways in the pictures above?

    • Deborah Silver says

Jane, there are several different kinds. Each quarry has their own special gravel, whether it be crushed stone or crushed granite. Best, Deborah

  3. Thanks I needed that … a pleasure to walk thru

Deborah, this is so interesting so many different materials adapted beautifully to the sites. It’s like a course in walkways! Janet

  5. Lovely walking with you. I did notice there were no brick pavers. Is there a reason for that?

Really lovely fit-to-site walkways. As usual you have given your readers pictures that speak many thousands of words about art principles in landscaping. Love your work!

  7. I love gravel! Recently had my crumbling asphalt driveway replaced with beautiful, crunchy gravel. Only drawback is weeds. We don’t use herbicides, so there’s a lotta pulling by hand. Thanx for the pix.

  8. I don’t know how I stumbled across your blog, but wow! I love all the varieties of walkways and
I also have to say the windowboxes in that top photo are STUNNING.
